Review:

Joao de Brito is a man of great appeal. Obviously stimulated by life and he is fortunate to have these qualities come through his paintings. A lifelong system of observation and interaction has matured de Brito’s style of impressionism influenced by Fauvism—he paints en plein aire and from memory back in his studio. Paintings of flesh and thought are the result. The result of a full look at subject matter. Cerebral and sanguine, his canvasses fit all approaches to life.

Joao de Brito’s style is unique and not to be characterized and classified and serves a variety of tastes—watch others view the art and you will see how varied and how personal each response is. Private thought to public eyes done in beauty so that there is no strain, but learning and an appreciation.

Since the age of six de Brito has observed and studied art. After his traditional training of classes and colleges, he studied in the U.S. and Europe—among his teachers are William B. Hannum, Mark Geller and David Leffel.

Joao de Brito’s works are part of many private and public collections in the Europe and throughout the U.S.
